WRAP CARE

Preserving the vibrant appearance and longevity of your car’s vinyl wrap requires proper care and maintenance. Drive through car wash is not recommended. Instead follow these practical tips to keep your vehicle looking sleek and well-protected.

1. Gentle Cleaning Techniques:

  • Use a mild detergent or specially formulated vinyl wrap cleaner (PH Neutral products are recommended)
  • Opt for a soft microfiber cloth or sponge to avoid scratching the surface.
  • Gently wipe away dirt and grime, bird poo and bugs splatter to be cleaned immediately, as will leave a permanent mark on the wrap if left on it for too long.

2. Avoid Harsh Chemicals:

  • Steer clear of abrasive cleaners, solvents, or wax products.
  • Products that are Ph Neutral are the most suitable. Some Ph Balanced products can be used.
  • Check product labels to ensure they are safe for use on vinyl surfaces.

3. Washing Techniques:

  • Wash the vinyl wrap regularly to prevent the accumulation of contaminants.
  • Rinse the car starting at the roof and moving downward. IMPORTANT: (if pressure washer is used, do not point the pressure washer too close to the wrap, especially the edge as it can cause the vinyl to lift up )
  • Where can, mix the cleaning solution with water (foam gun can be used too), and gently work the solution on the wrap, starting from the roof down.
  • Repeat the rinsing process
  • Aim for a bi-monthly cleaning routine, as the more the wrap is exposed to washing chemicals, the faster will lose its original colour.

4. Mindful Drying Techniques:

  • Pat the vinyl wrap dry with a clean, soft microfiber towel to prevent water spots.
  • Avoid using abrasive materials or air drying, as they may cause damage.
  • If the wrap is ceramic coated or has been freshly put on, a not too strong air blower can be used, however do not hold too close to the edges of the wrap.

5. Protection from the NZ Sun:

  • Park your car in shaded areas or use a car cover to shield it from direct sunlight.
  • Intense UV rays can cause fading or damage to the vinyl wrap over time.

6. Temperature Considerations:

  • Avoid exposing the vinyl wrap to extreme temperatures whenever possible.
  • If your vehicle has been under the sun for an extended period, allow it to cool before cleaning or applying any products.

7. Use Vinyl Protectants:

  • Apply a vinyl protectant or UV protectant to safeguard the wrap against sun damage.
  • Ceramic coating will prolong the lifespan of the wrap.
  • Follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for application frequency and technique.

8. Mindful Parking Practices:

  • Choose parking spaces wisely to minimize exposure to potential hazards, such as tree sap, bird droppings, or construction debris.
  • Be cautious in crowded parking lots to prevent accidental scratches or dings.

9. Professional Inspection and Maintenance:

  • Schedule regular inspections with a professional to identify and address any issues promptly.
  • Consider professional detailing services to maintain the vinyl wrap’s pristine condition.

10. Proper Storage:

  • If storing the vehicle for an extended period, use a breathable car cover to protect it from dust and debris.
  • Ensure the storage area is well-ventilated to prevent moisture buildup.
